If the sail remains suitable for sailing, repairs or alterations may extend its working life. We can advise on whether that is worthwhile.
Retiring a sail does not have to mean throwing it away. Spartan Sails assesses unwanted sails for repair, reuse, and repurposing; helping useful sailcloth find its next job.
A sail may no longer hold its shape on the water, yet still contain usable cloth. We look at its condition and construction to find a practical way forward.

Sound sails and usable panels may suit another boat or a different application. Suitability depends on dimensions, condition, and the intended use.
Suitable sailcloth can be considered for bespoke bags, storage organisers, and other practical sewn items. Each project starts with the material available.
Our focus is on reuse and repurposing. This service does not promise industrial recycling of every material or acceptance of every sail. We confirm what is possible after assessment.
Mainsails, headsails, and spinnakers can all be considered. Send photographs before arranging delivery so we can review the cloth and condition.
Please contact us before bringing or posting a sail. Acceptance depends on its condition and available uses. Laminate and composite sails require individual assessment.
Email an overall photograph, close-ups of the cloth and damage, and approximate dimensions.
We discuss potential repair, reuse, or repurposing and confirm whether we can accept the sail.
We confirm delivery arrangements, any charges, and the scope of any bespoke work before you proceed.
Once assessed and agreed, suitable cloth can be repaired, reused, or made into a new item.
Please contact us first. Send photographs and a brief description, and we will confirm acceptance and a suitable delivery time. Do not leave sails at the workshop without an agreed arrangement.
Charges depend on what is required. Repair, cleaning, transport, and bespoke fabrication may involve costs. We will confirm any charges before you commit; no fixed recycling price is advertised.
Yes, we can discuss a bespoke repurposing project using suitable cloth from your sail. Tell us what you would like made. Feasibility, price, and turnaround are confirmed after reviewing the material and design.
Once acceptance is confirmed, make sure the sail is dry and free from loose dirt. Fold or roll it securely. Let us know about mould, contamination or sharp and damaged fittings before delivery.
We cannot guarantee a use for every panel or component. Cloth condition, coatings, and mixed-material construction affect what can be reused. Any unusable material and its handling will be discussed as part of the assessment.
Timing depends on the condition of the sail, the item being made, and workshop workload. We confirm an estimated turnaround with your quotation.
Send a few photographs and tell us what you have. We will help you explore the options.
